Starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne, Carnival Row explores a dangerous love story between Detective Rycroft Philostrate and a young fairy named Vignette Stonemoss. In a world where humans and mythological creatures are forced to coexist, the two characters, deeply in love with each other, must face hatred and intolerance. A poetic and heartbreaking romance rooted in a revisited Victorian era.
Head to Alfea College, an incredible magical school for fairies where heart stories and dark secrets intertwine for a most bewitching result. Amidst hundreds of students with extraordinary gifts, Bloom, an American high school student raised among humans, tries to find her place. Surrounded by her new friends Musa, Terra, Stella, Aisha and Sky, she gets to confront the demons of her past in order to better understand her present. An adventure rich in adrenaline and emotions, which soon leads her to discover the extent of her power, but also the dangers it poses.
Adapted from the eponymous literary saga by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher follows the adventures of the beast hunter Geralt de Riv (Henry Cavill) and Princess Ciri (Freya Allan). Linked by fate, both have to help each other and survive in a world that fears them and does not want them to exist. In a medieval fantasy universe, the series explores the difference through the prism of magic and offers adventures as dark as they are moving.
What if the tales of our childhood came to life? That's the whole idea of Once Upon A Time, which revisits the stories of princes and princesses by adding a darker, tormented side. Don't worry, however, the magic is still there. In the show, the likes of Snow White, Belle, Prince Charming, Huntsman and Hook have all gone through difficult times and survived many dangers. They now live in a small town in Maine called Storybrooke, since a wicked witch cast a curse on their kingdom. A kind of open-air prison from which they will do everything to escape.
Fantasy, but not only that. While Game of Thrones allows you to travel through the diverse realms of Westeros, the show also develops a lot of power and politics games. The convoluted ploys mingle with black magic and the supernatural, for a formidably explosive cocktail! The thrills and the change of scenery are definitely there!
New Netflix show released in April, Shadow and Bone is an adaptation of the Grisha and the Six of Crows literary sagas, both written by Leigh Bardugo. A mixture of gangsters and magic, the program immerses us right into a kingdom at war, where humans live together with powerful sorcerers, named Grishas. The country is, however, torn apart by the Shadow Fold, a strange expanse of shadows populated by bloodthirsty creatures, making the inhabitants unable to find peace. Only a summoner of light can put an end to this curse. A mission that looks impossible, yet worth every risk and every hope.
