6 tv shows with an ensemble cast to rediscover

Sometimes, there isn’t just one or two main characters in a TV series, but a whole bunch. We call them ensemble shows. Focus on six ensemble shows that you must absolutely watch or rewatch.

Game of Thrones

With its 8 seasons, Game of Thrones made its mark in the TV series world. The show on the battle for the throne between the Starks, the Lannisters and the Targaryens captivated the world making this HBO show one of the best from the past few years. Led by Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Maisie Williams, Peter Dinklage or Sophie Turner, Game of Thrones has plenty of characters that build the story as we go along.

Modern Family

At the center of Modern Family : the Pritchetts, the Delgados and the Dunphys. These three families with very different profiles are evolving in front of the camera for documentary purposes. In turns, all the characters step in front of the audience. Overall, the show has about ten main characters that we follow during 11 seasons.

Big Little Lies

Signed by HBO, the show Big Little Lies has an incredible cast. Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Zoë Kravitz, Shailene Woodley and Laura Dern are all housewives living in a chic neighborhood of Monterey in California. They all have little secrets well-hidden to keep face in every circumstance. But when an incident happens at school, their everyday life is totally shaken. After an excellent first season, the cast was joined by another star: Meryl Streep. An ensemble show you must (re)watch at all cost!

Glee

Against all odds, an ensemble cast isn’t a show about singing. Yet, we can find some ensemble shows that have music as a main theme. We are talking about Ryan Murphy’s teen show for example here. Glee centers on highschool outsiders who unite in a glee club. As funny as it is touching, Glee is enjoyable at any time.

Downton Abbey

Another universe, another century! Welcome to England at the beginning of the 1900s. With more than a dozen characters, the Crawley family doesn’t let anyone indifferent to their stories. And for good reason, this aristocratic family saga from Yorkshire has - to this day - 6 seasons. Moreover, the richness of its cast and its storylines led the show to expand itself on the big screen with a movie that came out in 2019.

Friends

The popular sitcom doesn’t have one main character, but six, as everyone knows. Phoebe, Joey, Ross, Rachel, Monica and Chandler equally share the spotlight in Friends. Around them are a lot of guest stars who participated in the success of this show broadcasted for the first time during the 90s.
