Characters who appeared in the middle of a show and became super popular

13/04/2021

The hero, or heroine, of a TV series is not always the favorite character of the fans. Some arrive in the middle of a show and immediately get popular. Let's find it out with the following six characters.

Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Immediately after arriving in Season 2, Spike made an impression. However, he was not expected to stay in Sunnydale for long: James Marsters was to play the vampire for only a handful of episodes. But the character immediately became popular and the plans for him got changed. From Season 4, he became more and more important in the story and even became a major character from Season 5. A nice promotion for the vampire with an English accent.

Castiel from Supernatural

Castiel made his first appearance at the very beginning of Season 4, under the amazed eyes of Dean Winchester. His arrival is memorable and Supernatural fans enjoyed his charming and candid personality in a heartbeat. While he was only to remain a few episodes, not unlike Spike, his popularity eventually propelled him to the status of essential character in the show. He stayed until the end of the 15 seasons and won the hearts of everyone.

Cole from Charmed

The Halliwell sisters crossed paths with Cole Turner in Season 3 of Charmed... before finding out that he was actually a demon. Julian McMahon, Cole's performer, is no stranger to his being so loved by fans. The character can also rely on his charisma, mystery and charm, which Phoebe did not fail to notice. He stayed only two seasons, leaving the series during the fifth one, but he has definitely made his mark.

Xena from Hercules: The Legendary Journeys

Lucy Lawless appeared as Xena in the middle of the first season of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and gained popularity in just eight episodes. How to prove the fans' love for the badass warrior, you may ask? Consider this: after only five appearances, she gained the right to her own spin-off series in which she was the heroine, and this show was a hit! The popularity of Xena, Warrior Princess, has become much greater than that of Hercules.

Callie Torres from Grey's Anatomy

Grey's Anatomy is one of those shows that perfectly managed to renew their cast successfully. The medical series is still a blue chip after 17 seasons, while many characters, even important ones, have come and gone over the years. Among them: Callie, played by Sara Ramirez, who arrived at the end of Season 2. She quickly won over the hearts of fans, partly thanks to her being brutally honest. She is unafraid to speak her mind and knows how to be respected. Her departure in season 12 was unfortunate, and many hope to see her again before the end of the series.

Saul Goodman from Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad is the story of Walter White's descent into hell, a simple chemistry teacher struck with cancer who decides to manufacture and sell drugs for his family's future. During his mad dark journey, he meets many people, many of whom being dangerous, others being there to help him. Among them, one man managed to stand out: Saul Goodman, played by Bob Odenkirk. He caused a sensation at every appearance, and his popularity was such that he became the main protagonist of his own show, Better Call Saul.
