In the first episode of the 60th Television Festival

19/06/2021

After a very complicated year for both series and cinema, the official reopening Ceremony of the 60th Monte-Carlo Television Festival had to be the greatest of greats.

This Friday 18th until 22nd June, Monte-Carlo is in Festival mode, with a kick-off given by H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco himself. In Monaco, life is nice, and even so that this Festival is well liked by the Monegasque. If you missed the beginning of festivities, we are going over the surprises this new edition of the Festival has arranged for the Festival-goers.

An attractive and full program

The Monte-Carlo Television Festival consists of premieres screenings, exclusive conferences about the future of series and television in a more general matter. But it is also, and essentially, beautiful encounters with those who make this televised world come to life: the actors, the actresses, the producers, and the directors. Autograph sessions and greets-and-meets with the fans are scheduled, especially with the cast of Tomorrow is ours, Spiral, Life's so Sweet or even with Jaime Lorente.

A must-see event for professionals as well as all types of binge-watching fans.

If screenings and meetings with the actors will attract more aficionados, professionals are not on paid-leave, and these crazy 4 days seem to promise good times for the people in the business. Others will be extremely happy of the organized conferences, who truly enable reflection and discussion among the ever-growing world of television.

A one of a kind Opening Ceremony

A Festival without an Opening Ceremony is like a TV show without a starring actor. And what best than leaving the spotlight on the iconic red carpet for the kick-off of this 60th edition?

For this new Opening Ceremony (orchestrated by Génie Godula), also synonym for new-found liberty, we encountered : Lula Cotton-Frapier next to some of the cast of Mixte, the new Amazon Prime french TV show, like Baptiste Masseline and Gaspard Meier-Chaurand, but also Franck Sémonin and Léa François from Life's so Sweet. Those who discovered HPI on TF1 had the chance to see Audrey Fleurot on the red carpet ! Internationally speaking, we noticed Jaime Lorente (El Cid).

Also expected on the red carpet are Darren Star, whose baby is the one and only Sex and the City, who will receive the prestigious Golden Nymph Award during this Festival, joined by Ashley Park and Lucas Bravo, the stars of Emily in Paris.

A must-see world premiere screening

To end this amazing first day, the fans had the privilege to attend the worldwide premiere of an episode of the South-African series Reyka. A fiction that follows the steps of Reyka, a young woman born from a mixed marriage who was kidnapped as a child. After escaping, she rebuilt her life by becoming a detective. This young mother tries to balance her professional life as well as her heavy traumatic childhood memories.

This large selection sets the tone: at the Festival, everything is selected carefully ! If you want to be sure to see quality content, you know where to go... For the rest, we see you today to debrief what lies ahead.

Enjoy the Festival!
