In the fourth episode of the 60th Television Festival

22/06/2021

Day 4. The sad thing with festivals is that every day spent gets us closer to the end! While the 60th Monte-Carlo Television Festival will come to an end on June 22nd, it's time to enjoy every last bit of it. With this in mind, fans were thrilled today. Let's debrief this beautiful sunny Monday, filled with emotions.

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. As if this Monday 21st was the last day of the Festival. Indeed, tomorrow, it might already seem too late. But before getting mushy and saying goodbye to this wonderful 60th edition of the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, the first day of the week arranged nice surprises such as meetings with the fans, premiere screenings with the actors and an end of the day marked by the screening of a poignant documentary: Lions, Bones & Bullets.

A sunny screening under the sign of Frioul

As if it was answering the warming sun going down on the Grimaldi Forum, the criminal fiction Murder on the Frioul islands was projected this morning. With frames of these amazing Frioul islands, nearing Marseille, the movie pictures with Francis Huster and Jeremy Banster as a father-son duo investigating the same crime. After a great entrance on the red carpet yesterday, Francis Huster made another appearance for the fans alongside Jeremy Banster. Both actors came to defend and discuss the movie with the fans during a Q&A.

It's not the only screening festival-goers could attend, since the Grimaldi Forum changed the setting with Roald & Beatrix, The Tail of the Curious Mouse, a story immersing all of the attendees into the Christmas spirit for a few minutes. After that, ANA. all in was projected, and the cast was present to exchange with the public.

The afternoon continued with the worldwide premiere screening of the show in competition The Defender. Those who were at the screening of this Czech show had also the chance to discuss with the cast.

A meeting with a rap icon

It's impossible to not know Joey Starr as the charismatic man is quite a chameleon. If he was known for his rapping in the 90's, it is now in the cinematic world that Didier Morville is growing. After walking down the Monte-Carlo red carpet, this rap icon met some fans for an exceptional moment. Member of the fiction jury of the Festival, Joey Starr had to sit down at least a minute with the fans.

A documentary to end the day

Because the goal of the Festival is also to be a vector of new ideas and a means to defend a certain type of convictions, Lions, Bones & Bullets was aired for the first time ever this late afternoon. An exciting, painful but necessary dive into the barbarian trade of a protected species: the lion. Impactful, the documentary was made on the span of 3 years of research and investigation from the team and offers a new point of view on the side of Chinese medicine which buys into this bloody profitable business. Enough to go home from this fourth Festival day asking yourself the right questions...

I know you don't want to, and we don't either, but it's time to say goodbye, and see you tomorrow for the very last day of this special edition, sniff.
