Summer 2023 promises to be full of surprises, with new releases, and joyful reunions for TV shows fans. Here are six new series, or new seasons, to be discovered in July.

And Just Like That…, season 2

The revival of the immensely popular Sex and the City, And Just Like That... is back for a second season full of change but also nostalgia. And for good reason, these new episodes will feature the return of Aidan Shaw, one of the great loves of the protagonist Carrie Bradshaw from the original series. And that's not all, as announced a few weeks ago, actress Kim Cattrall will reprise her role as the iconic Samantha Jones in a highly anticipated scene. Launched on June 22 on the American streaming service Max, season 2 of And Just Like That... will be aired with one episode per week and will entertain viewers throughout the summer.

The Le Kervelec family is back on July 3, Monday to Friday at 8:30 p.m. on M6, for season 12 of En Famille. Considered as a summer entertainment for millions of French viewers, the TV show has become a must-see and is about to begin a new chapter full of twists and turns. As Yvan announces his new fatherhood, Annabelle longs for independence. Meanwhile, Brigitte’s old flame returns, Roxane considers moving in with Milo and starts talking about having children, and Lucienne is organizing her wedding... Sounds promising!

Adapted from the podcast of the same name, The Horror of Dolores Roach arrives on Amazon Prime Video on July 7. The series features actress Justina Machado in the role of Dolores Roach, a woman released after an unjust 16-year prison sentence, who discovers a gentrified Washington Heights. She reunites with an old stoner friend, Luis, who lets her live and work as a masseuse in the basement of his empanadas shop. When the promise of newfound stability is threatened, "Magic Hands Dolores" is driven to shocking extremes to survive.

On the other hand, Netflix will release a brand new comedy on July 13. Entitled Survival of The Thickest and based on Michelle Buteau's collection of essays, the series follows Mavis Beaumont, a young, black, plus-size woman who is now single and must rebuild her life to make ends meet. As a stylist, she not only aims to make it on her own but also to achieve success by relying on her friends who are like family, body positivity, a nice cleavage, and a bit of gloss.

Fans of the Sweet Magnolias series will be thrilled to reunite with Maddie, Helen, and Dana Sue for an awaited third season, which will be released on Netflix on July 20. In this new chapter, Maddie struggles to figure out how to help Cal while trying to understand her own emotions in the process; Helen has to make tough decisions about the men in her life; and Dana Sue seeks to use Miss Frances' check to help the community without disrupting her own family. That's not all, as the identity of the person who slashed the tires leaves the residents of Serenity speechless...

Special Ops: Lioness

On Paramount+, Zoe Saldaña will be starring in the TV show Special Ops: Lioness from July 23. The actress will portray Joe, a woman trying to find balance between her personal and professional life while leading the war against terrorism conducted by the CIA. She works within the Lioness program and will have to team up with a slightly aggressive young Marine named Cruz to thwart plans for another 9/11. The cast also includes Laysla de Oliveira, Michael Kelly, Morgan Freeman, and Nicole Kidman.
