These series that take place in the world of fashion

On the one hand, television regularly highlights beautiful clothes and ever classier high-quality looks but, on the other hand, there are not many fictions on the world of haute couture out there. Discover six fashion series which go behind the scenes of this world of luxury and glitter.

The Collection

Created by Oliver Goldstick, The Collection offers an immersion in post-war haute couture. The Franco-British series is thus set in the Paris under reconstruction of 1947 and is interested in the renaissance of France through clothing. The story focuses on designer Paul Sabine (Richard Coyle), who founded a luxury house in his name. Yet, the artistic genius is not who you think. Deprived of talent, Paul actually uses the drawings of his brother Claude (Tom Riley), with whom he has made a deal. A pact that gets called into question, when they see a contract proposal coming in, which could well trigger a strong takeoff for the brand.

American Crime Story :The Assassination of Gianni Versace

Inspired by the story of Gianni Versace, American Crime Story Season 2 looks back on the fate of the famous Italian designer. With Édgar Ramírez, Penélope Cruz and Darren Criss as the headliners, the series traces the journey of both the stylist and his sister, but also that of serial killer Andrew Cunanan. In addition to the thriller dimension linked to the assassin's progress in the luxury sector, this fiction allows a real dive into haute couture. Close to the artist, the program reveals the creative process, the backstage of the catwalks, but also the couturier's secrets. Ideal for getting to know the founder of the Versace house better.

Ugly Betty

In a more comedic manner, Ugly Betty offers a discovery of the luxury world through a prestigious fashion magazine. The scenario thus revolves around the adventures of Betty Suarez (America Ferrera), a kind, devoted and intelligent young woman, who finds herself appointed assistant to Daniel Meade (Eric Mabius), the editor-in-chief at Mode fashion magazine. Despite her skills, she is not renown for her elegance and beauty. She will therefore have to free herself from judgments and low blows, in a world ruled by appearances.

Velvet

Carried by Paula Echevarría and Miguel Ángel Silvestre, the Spanish series follows the journey of the heir to the Velvet galleries in Madrid, who decides to modernize fashion by drawing inspiration from the greatest couturiers. Set in 1958, the plot centers around the story of this revolutionary young man, who wants to break the rules to get better anchored to the present. Whether on a professional or personal level, his ideas are fresh, innovative and disturb the older generations a great deal, reluctant to these changes.

The Bold Type

Swirling and dynamic, The Bold Type follows the frantic daily lives of Kat (Aisha Dee), Jane (Katie Stevens) and Sutton (Meghann Fahy), three friends who work together in a major women's magazine called Scarlet. The first is responsible for the social media of the magazine, the second is a reporter and the third is a secretary, but dreams of working in the fashion division. Among their busy schedules, their career dreams and their stormy personal lives, the three friends get to learn to manage their status as active women to be successful in all areas.

Jane by Design

In a more teenage style, Jane by Design presents the crazy adventure of a 16-year-old girl (Erica Dasher), who suddenly decides to enter the professional world while carrying on her studies. By lying about her age, she then manages to get hired in a clothing company, and somehow manages to lead both her lives simultaneously. With one foot in fashion and the other in high school, her life gets more and more challenging. Her experience is as enriching as it is exhausting, that helps her, to a great extent, to grow and evolve.
